A celebration of public discourse designed around the power of the human voice. Building off the principal of a megaphone, Uproar serves as the people’s loudspeaker. A single voice is amplified enormously via four variations on the traditional megaphone. The public is encouraged to speak out into the mouthpiece, to explode their ideas into the social ether.


Diagrams

The humble megaphone has been an effective tool to speak to and gather groups of people for centuries. Its small size means it can only reach small crowds, however. To really make a statement, a grander gesture is needed. If one small megaphone can attract a small crowd… …then something more is needed to communicate to a larger audience. The idea of single speaker is amplified by growing, duplicating, and interconnecting four speaker cones from a single source. This arrangement is then framed in and supported, essentially turning the platform into an acoustic loudspeaker, a platform for action. By trimming the cones to the frame, the bullhorn mechanism is exposed and celebrated. In order to expose and celebrate the gesture even further, a corner of the structure is lifted to reveal the riot of pipes that make up the inner workings to curious onlookers and encouraging a second level of public interaction with the sculpture.
